Jean Harlow, who was technically a teenage housewife from Missouri when she started in films, came to Hollywood in the 1920s and made a splash in 1930 that would singlehandedly change the American hair color lexicon forever; every blonde claiming the “platinum” tag to succeed Harlow was inspired by her, whether consciously or not.
Harlow Heaven is a compilation of years of research and blogging on the twenty-six short years of Jean Harlow’s life, as well as on her film and writing careers. The aim here is to contribute to a well-rounded discussion and study of Jean Harlow (and her star persona), who, in Joan Crawford’s words, was neither a “sexpot nor a Pollyanna”–“She was young, sexy, and had a ball.”
